China MII Releases Removable Terminal
Data Synchronization Protocol
(PDAY Research Sep 16,2002)
The Ministry of Information Industry of China released a new communication
industry standard Removable Terminal Data Synchronization Protocol and
Data Type of Information Exchange Technical Requirement, coded YD/T1229-2002
(shortened as Removable Terminal Data Synchronization Protocol).
As China becomes the number-one mobile terminal market (including mobile
phone and handheld computer) worldwide, it is urgent to achieve data
synchronization and information exchange among various mobile terminals.
If it fails to exchange information, the Chinese mobile communication
and wireless internetworking industries will be impeded from healthy
development.
With the MII's coordination, experts from several enterprises and research
institutes related to mobile communication, including China Mobile,
China Netcom, Datang, ZTE, Motorola, Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens, Hi-Tech
Wealth, Legend and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications,
worked on setting up the standard.
In the field of mobile terminals, challenges from standardization of
data synchronization, information exchange are standing out, but few
foreign technical standards are suitable for reference. In this case,
the Chinese enterprises and research institute with the enormous market
support can take part in the establishment and implementation of related
standards. The release of Removable Terminal Data Synchronization Protocol
will draw wide attentions.
